John Holloway Crow Tree

Early John Holloway, West Creek, NJ, carved crow tree. Five of the crows are presented on a sassafras branch with a sixth crow perched on the side of the polychrome painted base. The tree is signed JRH on the bottom of the base. This is quite possibly the first bird tree he ever made as evidenced by this form of base, with a crow attached to it, not appearing on any of his other trees. Height - 21 inches.

Signed Medinger Redware Vase

Rare signed redware vase made by Jacob Medinger (1857-1932), Limerick Township, Montgomery County, Pa. The vase exhibits a beautiful three color glaze with excellent mottling. There is a footed base and Medinger’s signature coggle wheel marks on the neck and lip. There a few very minor areas of glaze loss on the base. Otherwise it is in mint condition. Height - 9 inches.

Southeastern Pennsylvania vorshrift watercolor dated
Southeastern Pennsylvania Vorshrift ink and watercolor dated 1824 (faintly) and presented in a early paint-decorated frame. The verbiage appears to be a that of a moral teaching. The potted tulips and dahlias have good crisp colors. Minor black ink lose and blurring. Provenance - Paul Flack. Dimensions - 8 1/2” x 14”.

Oil on canvas portrait of a young lady with curls wearing a blue dress with a well executed lace collar. A paper label on reverse identifies the sitter as Mary Patterson, born 1832. Jacob Medinger Redware Charger

Excellent large redware charger made by Jacob Medinger (1856-1932) of Neiffer, Montgomery County, Pa. While the charger is not signed, there is no doubt with respect to the Medinger attribution. It is boldly decorated with ten tulips, a trailing vine around the perimeter and manganese and copper oxide slip on a cream ground. There are three minor flakes on the rim but is otherwise in mint condition. Diameter - 12 1/4 inches.

Excellent early pair of miniature mergansers made in the style of Lothrop Holmes by Reggie Birch of Chincoteaque, Virginia. Holloway made only a handful of owl trees which is why this is considered a rare example of his work. Height - 21 inches.

Small Buttocks Basket

Small nicely woven buttocks basket with original dry, red painted surface. There is as expected minor wear to the handle and a few slight rubs on the bottom. Otherwise the condition is excellent.
