Unmarked Philadelphia bowback Windsor armchair with the best early red painted surface over the original dark green. This chair exhibits excellent form as evidenced by the shaped seat and bold reverse curves on the arms and arm supports. Circa 1785-1800. The crest rail is either hickory or oak; the spindles, arm supports, legs and stretchers are maple; and the seat is poplar. Expected wear to legs.
