Large Ellinger (American 1913-2003) horse and rider watercolor on laid paper in original paint decorated frame. Signed next to the rider's leg and with wonderful note in verso which reads "For Doug. Hope you enjoy my painting of the horse. I have one for myself which I painted after this one. You have No 1. Best Wishes - David". There is also a signature Ellinger stylized heart and tulip under the note. We have never seen a similar example of Ellinger's work and he may have only ever made the two to which he refers in his note. Frame - 17" x 20". Sight - 13" x 16".
