Sheldon Parsons NY Oil Painting

Wonderful small winter scene oil on board by Sheldon Parsons (1866-1943) of Rochester, NY. Parsons studied at the National Academy of Design with William Merritt Chase and Edgar Ward. Prior to moving West in 1913 to join the Taos & Santa Fe artist colony, Parsons was a very successful portrait painter in New York City. He also was known for his landscape paintings of rural West Chester County. This is an excellent example of his impressionistic style. Signed S. Parsons in the lower right hand corner. Untouched original condition. 9 1/2" x 5 1/2" (sight).
