Carved parrot made by master carver John Holloway of West Creek, NJ in the manor of 19th century Pennsylvania carver Schtockschnitzler Simmons. Presented on a lathe-turned base. Original polychrome painted surface with an excellent patina. John made only a handful of carved parrots during his twenty-five years of carving. This is the only carving by Holloway, bird trees or otherwise, that is signed on the base in longhand. His works are usually signed with his signature initials JRH. Height - 12".
